The Selected Works of Edward Said 1966-2006

Klappentext:

Edward Said is one of our era's most formidable, provocative, and important thinkers. For more than three decades he has graced the international cultural scene as a renowned literary and cultural critic and a passionately engaged intellectual. His books, which include Culture and Imperialism, Peace and Its Discontents, and the seminal, extraordinarily influential Orientalism, have changed our worldview and even the terms of our public discourse.

The Selected Works of Edward Said 1966-2006 presents key selections from Said's works, from his groundbreaking 1966 study of Joseph Conrad through his recent Out of Place: A Memoir. Whether he is writing of the Hebron Massacre or the fight for Palestinian self-determination, of Jane Austen or Rudyard Kipling, Said's uncompromising intelligence casts urgent light on every subject he tackles. The Selected Works of Edward Said 1966-2006 will prove an indispensable resource for scholars of politics, literature, history, and cultural studies: in short, of all those fields that his work has so deeply influenced and, in some cases, transformed.

Originally published as The Edward Said Reader – newly expanded to represent the full scope of his career.
