These texts are aimed at general readers interested in understanding part of the cultural, historical and mind-set tradition of the North-West of an African Arab-Muslim country: Morocco. The book attempts to portray Jbala from the pre-colonial period till the early post-colonial one. Together with the photographs of Amsél these essays are an attempt to carve out some of the basic cultural and everyday specificities of Jbala.
Über die Autorin / über den Autor:Abdenbi Sarroukh is professor at the Abdel Malek Essaâdi University in Tetouan, Morocco. Where he teaches English literature, philosophy, comparative religion and texts of popular science. He published many articles, poems and translations from Arabic. His ancestors stem from the Jbala.
